The third-generation Volvo S60 has been unveiled by the Swedish car maker in India and the launch is expected to take place in early 2021. This sedan, which was earlier expected to go on sale earlier this year, will now be rolled out next year owing to the Covid-19-pandemic.
Volvo has plans to go big in India in 2021 and with this launch of S60, the company wants to create an immediate splash. SUVs seem to the order of the day in the Indian market, but Volvo is confident that they will be able to create a market for themselves with this latest offering.
What will be the features?
Volvo S60 will come with a solitary engine option of a 2.0-litre petrol motor and this will be able to produce 187 bhp as well as offer 300 Nm of torque. It measures 4761 mm in length and has a width of 2040 mm. Also, it is 1431 mm tall and has the best-in-segment wheelbase of 2872 mm.
Volvo maintains that safety is one of their prime focus and for the S60, they will be making use of features that include City Safety – which will detect pedestrians and cyclists, and immediately flag a warning to drivers if the speed shoots beyond 50 kmph. There is also a lane-keeping aid – which will be active over 60 kmph, along with adaptive cruise control and driver alert control.
Bookings for this new Volvo S60 will begin from January 21 of 2021 and all the deliveries will commence from March 21. In India, it will be pitted against the C-Class from Mercedes-Benz as well as the BMW 3 Series.
